A moving and life-affirming story that is full of hope and friendship.
It's about Caylin and Reema, two girls (aged 11 and 12). Caylin is the school bully. Reema is a Syrian refugee.
It’s the story of an unlikely friendship forged amidst pain and hardship. The two girls dislike each other to begin with but are brought together by an injured fox and her cubs who they both try to protect.

Unplugged by Steve Antony
Do you spend ages on your tablet? Are you always stuck in front of a screen? Blip, the robot in this story, spends all day plugged into her computer. She plays games, dances to music, and learns new things.
However, one day there's a power cut and she's forced to play outside instead. Her world switches from black and white to full colour as she discovers how much more fun life is with friends.

Animazes by Melissa Castrillon
A gorgeous and original book. Each beautifully illustrated double page spread depicts the migration of a different animal. What's extra exciting is that every double page is a maze. You can trace each animal’s journey with your finger. There are animals of all shapes and sizes from Antarctic krill to humpback whales. There are land animals, sea creatures and birds. In all, there are 14 different journeys: in water, by air, across deserts and over pack ice.

I Can Only Draw Worms by Will Mabbitt
This is a counting book but it's not like any you've ever read before. You see, the author can only draw worms. He might change their colour or add a pair of glasses but, still, all we get is worms. It's a quirky, funny book which will have the whole family giggling.

I Swapped my Brother on the Internet by Jo Simmons
Illustrated by Nathan Reed.
Younger brother Jonny is fed up of being teased by his older brother, Ted. He decides to swap his brother on the internet. What follows is a series of new brothers, none of whom fully meet Jonny’s expectations, and each has to be returned.
Gradually Jonny begins to miss Ted and the things they did together. The story is definitely a case of be careful what you wish for. Jonny realises that Ted wasn’t so bad after all and that he’d actually rather like his own brother back. However, getting Ted back proves much harder than getting rid of him in the first place.
You'll like this book if you enjoy funny, action-packed stories with a bit of mystery and suspense.

I Really Want the Cake by Simon Philip & Lucia Gaggiotti
A funny, highly entertaining picture book which is great fun to read aloud.
Mum has made a gigantic chocolate cake with cream and biscuits on the top. It looks delicious but she's left a note next to it for her daughter: she must not eat the cake. This is too difficult for the little girl and her pet dog; they really want the cake. They take one bite and then another and another...
